DADA LIFE LISTENS TO YOUR DEMOS: ROUND 3

Well well well... we didn't expect to get as many as we did in 24hrs. Over 1,500 demos!!! It's taken us a while to get through as many as we can. Not possible to go through them all so stay tuned for Round 4. Overall the level of production is really good, less dubstep tracks than the last time we did this. We would say the main tip for people is to simplify ideas in the song.. overall too many ideas in one track. Stick with one good one and expand the idea from there!

If your song is mentioned, please feel free to add a link to it in the comments so people can listen, we didn’t want to offer a download of your tracks unless you were ok with it!

Here are the Round 3 Awards

  • Dada Land Citizen Award goes to: Auratic - The Beast
  • Best Surprise Drop Award goes to: Ayin M - Go High
  • Best Melody Award goes to: John Bauman - The Nerve
  • Best Name Award goes to: BalaclavAntelopes
  • Best Overall Best Track Award goes to: Classic Roots - Coconut Kills

  • See if your track made he cut...here's as many as we could get through!

  • 4th Effect - Energy - Nice Deep house melody and groove.. not something we'd play, until they forget the bananas on the rider!
  • 5olDios - Lucid - Sounds like one of the synths are out of tune.. interesting as digital synths.
  • Albaek- Genreless - Nice piano and sound design… not one we’d play but a cool track.
  • Ale Q - Yeah - Nice track!
  • Alex Chen - Castaway - Need to replace that snare and work on the overall mix
  • Alex Now - Fire - Like this one… but animals bleep and tsunami synth two good sounds, not sure when you add them it makes it twice as good.
  • Alex Orange and Ozan Yk - Holy Shit - Very nice track..
  • Alexander Stjarnkog - Creatures - Like the melody and chords a lot.. quite poppy but nice. Sounds like an old arcade game, and we like arcade games
  • Apecz - Devastator - Work on the mastering to balance the build up and the drop
  • Ason ID - Memories - work on the kick to sit better with the whole track
  • Auratic - The Beast - AWESOME! Such a fun track.. nice chords, sounds and production. Certainly different! You’re a pro, we like your sounds.. if we owned an elevator, this would be the music we play.
  • Ayin M - Go High - Like it, interesting Formant lead first drop. Cool!
  • b3artrax - Zero 2 Sixty - We love stops and the overall idea of the song is solid, but when you combine but the sound you use to fill the gap, change to something with more edge and not so generic.
  • Batashi - Euphrobeat - Nice melody sounds like 1998, drop sounds like 201.. not sure they play well together.
  • Bagro - Ardor - Artist and track name sounds like two characters from Lord of the Rings! Nice tension in the build up. Track is good.. need to work on the overall production to step it up. We would have played this if it had better production.
  • Basshous3 - Call 101 - If you want to be called Basshouse, need to work on the bass.. lots missing down there!
  • Ben Rowdy - Rawdica - Harmonies are trying to be advanced, but perhaps too different it doesn’t work.. nothing to hook onto in it.
  • Brouengo - Drop It - Lot of a good ideas in here, just need to work on the production. Use a new snare sound also 😉
  • Brobot - The Apex of the Vortex - Good idea, keep working on the mix
  • BTRK - Must Be It - We love distortion, but it sounds like the monitors are broken
  • Buscher - New Year’s Eve - The track never starts, just a massive break.. give us a drop! Extra point for the female vocal sample, we like that!
  • Buzz Yeagger - Moonlight Rising (Dubstep Remix) - No comment
  • Cairo’s Underground - ABBOUD - Wins the award for the shortest track.. we did say finished tracks only!
  • Caius and Fabian - Absolute Riot - Nice!! Good melody, good sounds (but not the Nintendo sound, can loose that)
  • Candy Drops - Sweet & Sour - Melody and harmony sound familiar, which might not be a bad thing… the drop could sound great in a club, hard to tell on our studio speakers.

  • Christian Navar - One Night In Memory Lane - Like the feeling of a old computer game, just don’t like the sound of it.
  • Chubby & Sebastian - NOSD - Don’t phase invert the guitar to achieve stereo width.. instead record two guitar takes. Press the mono button and you’ll hear what we mean;)

  • Club DP - Bells From Heaven - Good title, but no bells! Wins the Nobells prize
  • Classic Roots - Coconut Kills - Love the goingy sound.. old techno vibe. GREAT TRACK! We might start playing this track.
  • Cymantik - Beautiful Build - TOOOOO LOOOONNNGGGGG
  • Dack - What’s The Remote - For us, the side chain was a little too much
  • Danieloski - If Only - Check the harmony, goes out of key for a moment there. Lead line is a big annoying after a while, switch up the sound
  • Damian M - Stars - Amazing productions for the drop, the sounds are great.. the melody isn’t that interesting, but it’s close!
  • David SC - Hey! - Again only finished tracks (oh and please use stereo)
  • Deep Space - 1-7-14 - Feels like it’s slower than the tempo it is and that’s not a good thing.. but extra points for writing a song in a major key

  • Disco Dancer - GDM - like the humor in the track, but it’s not fun

  • DJ Gnirts - Give It Some - Like the jungle sounds, not the drum and bass style, but the actual jungle

  • Espectro - Nicotine - Don’t like that cymbal sound, maybe use a snare. But overall sound groove on this track.
  • Fabian Azzano - Meteor - the “Pyong” sound needs to much more unique or edgy.. track is only bass and that sound so it needs to stand up

  • GiraphosorusFunk - Giraffes With Guns - Don’t like this track, but do like the name!
  • George B feat Gabby Carreiro - Rock ’n’ Rave - Vocals! Repeat the vocal phrase at 1:50 one more time into the drop.. that’s catchy! Really nice track and production overall.

  • Grabbitz - When The Beat Drops - Production is really good.. stab in the drop is great! Simplify the ideas in the song.

  • Johan Lindback - Open Skies - You have the ideas, but you need to improve the production
  • John Bauman - The Nerve - REALLY good melody in the break.. but the drop isn’t connected to the break, like two separate tracks. Maybe just add the melody back over the drop.. Work on that and you could have a great track
  • Johnny Goodboy - Inspiration - Break is good, drop needs to be simplified
  • Karon and ELP - Stunning - Change the limiter so it listens to the low frequencies for the compression, right now it’s listening to the clap too and pushing that down too.

  • Reuben Keeney & Fast Foot - Epidemic - Production is really good..

  • Voldemort - Simfonia - I didn’t know Voldemort was Nicky Romero 😉
  • Wee-O - Starfucks - Track needs a little bit more top frequencies
