Sausage Fattener Plugin

Here is our first plugin – the Sausage Fattener! People always ask us how we get our greasy sound…here is the answer. Hook up this fat bastard to your favorite DAW (AU and VST on both PC/Mac) and get dirty. The plugin is already used by Tiësto, Kaskade, Diplo, Laidback Luke and others (see below for more).

The Sausage Fattener only has two knobs. But don’t be fooled. With those seemingly simple parameters you can create loads of different sounds. Use the Sausage Fattener on a single channel with moderate settings as a musical compressor. Turn it up and you have a dirty bastard of distortion. But you can also use the plugin on a bus (for example all the drums and the bass) or the whole track as a mastering plugin.

The Sausage Fattener is used by Tiësto, Kaskade, Diplo, Laidback Luke, Chuckie, Sebastian Ingrosso, Dirty South, Hardwell, Angger Dimas, Frank E, Zedd, Lazy Rich, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Marcus Schossow, John Dahlbäck and many other DJ/producers.

Just see what Laidback Luke thinks about our little creation:
“Ever since I stepped away from Fruity Loops I was looking for a plugin like this. And you did it. Instantly hooked, and loving it!”

Q: Is the Sausage Fattener made with SynthEdit or similar program?
A: Nope, it’s developed by us together with Tailored Noise.

Q: Will you release more plugins?
A: Yes! This is just the first!

Q: Why a sausage?
A: We’re always happy with a track when it looks like a fat sausage.

Q: Is this plugin just a gimmick?
A: You’re talking to us?!?! Hell no. We always have a special chain of effects that we use when creating our tracks. So we let the developers analyze those effects and create the plugin from our settings.

Q: I ordered the plugin but haven’t received a download link?
A: Check your spam folder. Wait for an hour or two, if you still haven’t received it please email:

Q: Does it work with Pro Tools?
A: Right now there’s no RTAS-version. It might work with a converter, but we haven’t had time to play around with it.

Q: Does it work with GarageBand?
A: The Sausage Fattener should work with all VST/AU-systems.

Q: Why doesn’t it sound beefy on really low level sounds?
A: You need to pull the gain up until it’s almost red. The Sausage Fattener is a combination of several dynamic effects – and the key is to “drive” the signal as hard as you want – from mild compression to hard distortion.

Q: Does this plugin make my songs so good that I just need to add it – and then I will be a superstar-DJ?
A: There’s no holy grails when it comes to plugins. You will still need to make good music and know how to tweak your shit. In the end: there are no “magical” plugins – not even if they have an angry sausage in the interface. But it will certainly make your tracks and sounds greasier and fatter.

  1. Just got it. Been playing with it for about a half hour now… I really wish I had taken the day off work to play with this. I don’t think there will be enough time later tonight for me to really explore this thing. 🙁 I need more time in the day… Dada Life, you have given me girth, can I now get some length? 😉

  2. Really cool plug in, there’s only one bad thing about it: it can’t run in mono mode on logic channels, it is only available as a stereo plug in. Is there any way to fix this? This would be great, since most bass is mono.

  3. Dose the plugin work for abelton 8.1.1?…i cant make it work its in my vstplugin folder but det program dosent show it..Anybody who could help me?

  4. @ Azad Rahimi: You have to go into the Settings window to the plugins section. There you need to specify the plugin folder (usually “C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTplugins” or “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VSTplugins” if you’re running 64-bit Windows) and then enable the folder and rescan for plugins. It showed up immediately on my computer when I did this.

  5. @ Phil try putting the built in gain in logic @ the end of your FX chain and just set it on mono. thats how i put stereo plugins into mono. hope it helps you with your problem 😉

  6. This plug causes Logic 9.1.3 to throw up a crash message when quitting the app. Not a massive problem, but possibly indicative of more serious issues?

Definitely caused by the Fattener – removing it from the components folder stops the crash messages.

Not sure if there’s a proper support email address. I had a quick look on here and couldn’t find one. I could send a crash log if necessary.

  7. Hallo,
i’ve purchased the plug. Why did you not say in the video it’s a brickwall limiter??? Is not clear at all!!
And why did you not leave any chance to the user to have
a ceiling inferior to 0? Every decent
brickwall limiter should have an output ceiling selectable by the user(at least starting from -0.1)
    without any intersample peak issue…
You’d better hurry and release a new version full of bugfixes.

  8. I paid for it over 24 hours ago and got the paypal receipt…but no link to download the plug in.GGGRRRRR

  12. Just downloaded it. I use protools 8.0.3. and have the .dat file sat in my plugins folder HD->Library->Application Support->Digidesign->plug-ins. It does not show up inside the sequencer. I am getting worried because I have paid my money for something which I can’t use. I have tried re-installing it and restarting my Mac. None of this helps. Please reply.

  13. Don;t think I am the only one and to save DaDa some grace it may be worth making it easier to locate the updates!
For one I managed to find the x64bit update by chance and come back, again cant remember how I got it.
Please easy link/access on your web page guys.

  14. Sooooo … there?s ONE nice comment here & the other comments are just “worried questions”! Not a single answer from the “developers”.

This IS a gimmick. If it doesn?t apply any “sound” to your signal on low settings … it just sux.

    NOT funny …

  15. I loved this! This is totally, insanely, awesome and I’m rolling laughing at your fabulous gimmick! What a creation!

  16. FAQ updated with some of your questions. Sorry, we can’t keep track of technical issues in this thread. You need to e-mail the support. // DADA LIFE

  18. Hey. I’m trying to purchase the plugin, but all of my credit cards are being declined at checkout. I’m sent to 3-D Secure but I am immediately tossed back to the page where I should put in my CC-information with the message “Authorization Failed Cardholder authentication has failed. Please go back and attempt to correct your information or choose a different payment method.” I do not even get the chance to input 3-D Secure information. I’m carrying Norwegian cards.

Please fix this, as I need a fatter sausage.

  19. Heard so much about the hype of this ‘unique’ plug-in and saw a demo of it in youtube. FM & CM has some insights about this product and had to ‘test’ it out.

The funniest plug-in ever!!! But a serious one, none the least! Well done boys!
